                               COMETS TAKE TWO AGAINST ATHLETICS

June 14: The Comets took a pair games from the Athletics to even their season record at 6-6. 

Nick Madden's game-winning sacrifice fly scored Eric Bush in the bottom of the 8th in game one to give the Comets a 8-7 win.  Bush, pinch-running for Buddy Bonetti (2-4, R), also earned the victory on the mound in his Comets debut.  Workorse Phil Motley threw five innings, pushing his league-leading innings pitched total to 36.  Zach Stimely continued to pitch strong out of the bullpen, allowing just 1 hit and 1 unearned run in 1.1 innings before turning it over to Bush.  Bush recorded the final 5 outs of the game for the win.  Dan Louis had 3 RBI's, Spencer Graves had 2 hits and 3 stolen bases and Phil Motley contributed with a pair of hits and 2 runs scored for the Comets.

Dana Erb threw a gem to lead the Comets to a 2-1 win in game 2 of the doubleheader.  Erb hurled six innings, allowing just one run and four hits.  Eric Bush capped offa  memorable Comets debut by recording his first save in a scoreless seventh inning.  Offense was at a premium, with James D'Onofrio's three hits pacing the Comets.  D'Onofrio also stole 2 bases and picked off a baserunner at first.  Buddy Bonetti's two-out bases-loaded walk in the top of the seventh proved to difference.

The Comets stay at the friendly confines of La Salle's DeVincent Field on Sunday, June 21 to play the Lansdowne Mustanges in one 9-inning game.  The Comets are off to their best start at DeVincent Field in franchise history, with a 3-1 record at home to date.

         COMETS HALT LOSING STREAK WITH WIN OVER YANKS 
       
June 7: Dana Erb threw five strong innings, and Zach Stimely recorded his first save, as the Comets won 6-5 over the Yankees in Game 2.  Offensively, Dan Louis led the way with 3 hits, 2 steals and a run scored.  Jeff Nichols (1-3, RBI, 2R, BB) plated the eventual game-winning run in the fifth inning, scoring on a wild pitch after knocking James D'Onofrio (2-3, R, 2SB) home earlier in the frame.

May 31: Spencer Graves had a career-high six hits (6-6), and Dana Erb threw seven sharp innings, but it wasn't enough as the four-time defending GPMABL Champion Havertown Eagles at Cardinal O'Hara.

                                           TEN RUN INNING WINS GAME 1 FOR COMETS 

April 26: The Comets offense exploded for 10 runs in the seventh inning of Game 1 on Sunday en route to a 13-4 victory over the Phillies.  Phil Motley (2-0, 0.58ERA) earned the win with six strong innings on the mound, followed by Zach Stimely's first appearance to close out the game.

Dana Erb had another strong outing in Game 2, but the Comets offense could not keep up the momentum from Game 1, fallling 4-2 to the Phils.

The Comets (3-1) will return to their home field at La Salle University on Sunday, May 3 against the Delco Blue Rocks.  The Blue Rocks will serve as the "host" team with the first pitch set for 10:00AM.

                TWIN ACES: MOTLEY AND ERB LEAD THE WAY IN SWEEP OF A'S

April 19: The Philadelphia Comets got off to a quick start, sweeping the Philadelphia Athletics at Latshaw-McCarthy Field to open the season.  The Comets (2-0) took the first game 11-1, and came from behind to win the second game 4-3.

Phil Motley threw six innings in game one, yielding just one unearned run on four hits.  The Comets offense scored a pair of runs in each of the first three innings.  Three players had three hits (Cave, D'Onofrio & Motley), while another two (Bonetti & Marcus) added two hits each.  Dan Maletta worked a scoreless seventh inning on the mound to seal the win.

A two-run bottom of the sixth lifted the Comets to the 4-3 victory in game 2.  Starter Dana Erb pitched a complete game to earn his first win of the year.  Erb held the A's scoreless in six of seven frames, allowing all the damage in the fifth inning.  Veteran first baseman Huston Ripley drove in Dan Louis and Buddy Bonetti in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead for the Comets. 

The Comets will travel to Marple Newtown High School on Sunday, April 26 to take on the Montco Phillies.  First pitch is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
